The long awaited Mushin has for the last 2 years been operating outside of the public arena
to a small select clientele. While restoration commitments have been the main reason for this
it has also allowed us time to build up it's gallery and body of work before the launch
(because no-one wants to buy without seeing pictures first). Please see below some images
of some of the work we have done so far. We anticipate that the official launch of Mushin will
be delayed for another month, but are happy to take enquiries at this point. If you would like
to enquire about a Mushin blade or would like to purchase one, please be aware that the
current waiting time is 10-12 weeks for completion (for orders of 5 or more blades the wait
time in 10 - 14 weeks).
Why Mushin
Mushin offers a high end quality blade. The blades are not mass produced but are hand
forged from High Carbon Mono or Folded Steel and are clay tempered to produce a true
hamon. Each blade is then adjusted and polished in 1 of 3 styles available at Jigoku
Studios. The koshirae is also hand crafted at Jigoku Studios using Honoki timber and fitted
and customised according to your need and preference of style. This customisation includes
preferences of tsukamaki, same, lacquer, blade length, sageo, fittings and more. We are
also working on having our own exclusive range of fittings including habaki, tsuba, fuchi
kashira, tachi kodogu etc. As time permits I will be listing completed one off pieces for the
collector looking for “functional art” as well as the more Standardised practical pieces for
those that don’t want to wait. Pricing is based on Blade material, style of polish and Koshirae.
